BIO

Naomi’s journey through the therapy world spans over two decades, marked by a deep commitment to growth, healing, and evolution. It all began in Cleveland, Ohio, following her graduation from Case Western Reserve University in 1999. Naomi embarked on her career with a humble start in child and adolescent outpatient psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment for at-risk youth in inner-city Cleveland.

Her dedication to serving vulnerable populations led her to Phoenix, Arizona, where she expanded her expertise to include working with even younger children, ages 0-5. Here, she engaged in didactic work between parent and child, fostering healthy attachment relationships from the earliest stages of development. This phase of her journey culminated in completing her post-graduate training from the Harris Institute of Infant and Toddler Mental Health, a pivotal moment that deepened her understanding of the importance of these primary attachment relationships.

Naomi’s passion for teaching and mentoring emerged as she assumed the role of supervisor/mentor for master’s level therapists, serving as a field instructor for Arizona State University. In 2007, she took the leap to establish her own private practice in Gilbert, Arizona, specializing in child and adolescent therapy. As her practice flourished, Naomi recognized the pressing need to address trauma cases, prompting her to delve into training in Mindfulness-Based practices, EMDR therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Brainspotting.

Driven by her commitment to share her knowledge and expertise, Naomi welcomed associate therapists into her practice, guiding them towards licensure while imparting the specialized skills necessary to address trauma effectively. Her professional journey also intertwined with her personal exploration of eastern philosophies lead her to study under esteemed spiritual teachers who advocated for the power of mindfulness and the practice of observing one’s thoughts.

Naomi’s commitment to expanding her expertise and enhancing her practice has continued in recent years. She is currently pursuing certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and supervision within this modality. This dedication to professional development not only enriches her own skills but also ensures that Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy remains at the forefront of evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Furthermore, Naomi is actively sponsoring associate therapists who express an interest in further training in these specialized areas. By investing in their growth and development, she fosters a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the practice, ultimately benefiting the clients they serve. Through her leadership and mentorship, Naomi empowers her team to excel in providing comprehensive care to individuals and couples seeking support on their journey towards healing and fulfillment.

As a Japanese American, eastern philosophy and its influence on psychotherapy became a hallmark of Naomi’s approach. Relocation to California provided an opportunity to further explore the integration of mindfulness, energy psychology, and EMDR/somatic modalities, as well as attachment based healing, which were in high demand among the local client population.

Thus, Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy was born—a culmination of Naomi’s extensive experience, deep-rooted compassion, and unwavering dedication to holistic healing. Today, the practice offers a diverse range of therapeutic modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Under Naomi’s guidance, a team of eight talented therapists continue to uphold the practice’s mission, ensuring that clients receive the highest standard of care. Naomi remains committed to her own growth and the growth of those she serves. Her eclectic approach to psychotherapy, trauma work, and energy psychology, infused with spiritual wisdom from Eastern masters, reflects her unwavering dedication to fostering healing, transformation, and inner peace.
