Naomi’s journey through the therapy world spans over two decades, marked by a deep commitment to growth, healing, and evolution. It all began in Cleveland, Ohio, following her graduation from Case Western Reserve University in 1999. Naomi embarked on her career with a humble start in child and adolescent outpatient psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment for at-risk youth in inner-city Cleveland.

Her dedication to serving vulnerable populations led her to Phoenix, Arizona, where she expanded her expertise to include working with even younger children, ages 0-5. Here, she engaged in didactic work between parent and child, fostering healthy attachment relationships from the earliest stages of development. This phase of her journey culminated in completing her post-graduate training from the Harris Institute of Infant and Toddler Mental Health, a pivotal moment that deepened her understanding of the importance of these primary attachment relationships.

Naomi’s passion for teaching and mentoring emerged as she assumed the role of supervisor/mentor for master’s level therapists, serving as a field instructor for Arizona State University. In 2007, she took the leap to establish her own private practice in Gilbert, Arizona, specializing in child and adolescent therapy. As her practice flourished, Naomi recognized the pressing need to address trauma cases, prompting her to delve into training in Mindfulness-Based practices, EMDR therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Brainspotting.

Driven by her commitment to share her knowledge and expertise, Naomi welcomed associate therapists into her practice, guiding them towards licensure while imparting the specialized skills necessary to address trauma effectively. Her professional journey also intertwined with her personal exploration of eastern philosophies lead her to study under esteemed spiritual teachers who advocated for the power of mindfulness and the practice of observing one’s thoughts.

Naomi’s commitment to expanding her expertise and enhancing her practice has continued in recent years. She is currently pursuing certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and supervision within this modality. This dedication to professional development not only enriches her own skills but also ensures that Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy remains at the forefront of evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Furthermore, Naomi is actively sponsoring associate therapists who express an interest in further training in these specialized areas. By investing in their growth and development, she fosters a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the practice, ultimately benefiting the clients they serve. Through her leadership and mentorship, Naomi empowers her team to excel in providing comprehensive care to individuals and couples seeking support on their journey towards healing and fulfillment.

As a Japanese American, eastern philosophy and its influence on psychotherapy became a hallmark of Naomi’s approach. Relocation to California provided an opportunity to further explore the integration of mindfulness, energy psychology, and EMDR/somatic modalities, as well as attachment based healing, which were in high demand among the local client population.

Thus, Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy was born—a culmination of Naomi’s extensive experience, deep-rooted compassion, and unwavering dedication to holistic healing. Today, the practice offers a diverse range of therapeutic modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Under Naomi’s guidance, a team of eight talented therapists continue to uphold the practice’s mission, ensuring that clients receive the highest standard of care. Naomi remains committed to her own growth and the growth of those she serves. Her eclectic approach to psychotherapy, trauma work, and energy psychology, infused with spiritual wisdom from Eastern masters, reflects her unwavering dedication to fostering healing, transformation, and inner peace.

Dr. Killinger is a licensed psychologist who works with adults of all ages who are struggling with an array of emotional concerns including depression, anxiety, stress and relationship struggles. In addition, she has a particular area of interest and expertise in working with young adults (ages ~18-28) who are navigating personal, academic, career, and identity issues.

Dr. Killinger’s approach is integrative but grounded in client centered and attachment theory. She strives to create a warm, safe, nurturing space for self-exploration, healing and growth. She sees her role as a therapist as being a guide who walks with clients on their personal journeys and helps them find balance and emotional wholeness. Her goal is to help clients achieve a more authentic and compassionate connection with themselves and others.

Dr. Killinger uses a variety of approaches to improve well-being and relieve suffering including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and behavioral activation. Dr. Killinger also has specialized training in expressive arts therapy and mindfulness.

While Dr. Killinger is licensed as a psychologist in California, she physically resides in Madison, Wisconsin, so she is only available via telehealth. Though Dr. Killinger lived in Californiafor many years, she settled down in Wisconsin after obtaining her PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. When she is not working, Dr. Killinger enjoys spending time with her family, including her English Cream Golden Retriever, Toby. She enjoys going for walks in nature (even in the snow!), playing the guitar, karaoke, and trying to find which restaurant has the best cheese curds.

Rachel Thueson

Rachel is part of our administrative staff at Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy. She assists the practice in all office management aspects including scheduling, billing, insurance benefits, claim filing, and more. She has a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University in Marriage, Family, and Human Development, and graduated in 2010. She also has a certificate of Medical Billing and Coding from Salt Lake Community College, completed in 2024. She has several years of experience working in the mental health field prior to becoming a mental health biller in 2018. Rachel enjoys working with our clients, and providing a smooth back office support system to our therapists behind the scenes.

Nadine is a registered associate marriage and family therapist and received her master’s in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.

As an Egyptian American who grew up in Cairo, Egypt, she recognizes the role culture and identity play in understanding and interacting with the world. Her goal is to create a comfortable space and a solid therapeutic relationship to explore and delve deep into the problems a client may be facing or past issues they want to take a closer look at. Nadine believes that the client is the expert in their lives and works collaboratively with the client to map their story and reassess dominant stories.

Nadine works with individuals, couples, and families and provides services in English and Arabic.

Julia always knew she wanted to join the mental health field in order to destigmatize mental health conditions, advance social justice, and promote open and honest conversations surrounding the topic of mental illness. She is now a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). Her journey to become a psychotherapist began in 2018 when she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas State University, and went on to earn her Master’s of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Julia has worked with children, adolescents, parents, entire family units, and adults. She enjoys working with children ages 4-17 with a wide array of therapeutic goals. She strives to aid in improving children’s social and emotional skills through practicing identifying feelings and providing them with structured coping skills to process emotions. She also values working with adults who may be facing mental health challenges. In the past, Julia has worked with vulnerable individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. Her personal and professional experiences have cultivated her passion in both micro and macro work in the mental health field. As a native Spanish speaker, Julia aims to be an inclusive psychotherapist. She provides evidence-based services in both English and Spanish to individuals of varying identities.

Eliott Gillooly works with children, teenagers, and adults and is especially passionate about working with LGBTQ, Disabled, and Neurodivergent individuals of all ages. Eliott creates an empathetic and supportive space that helps clients explore a range of mental health issues effectively. Eliott works from a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective. Eliott incorporates therapy techniques such as EFT Tapping, that can be quickly effective and is able to be used independently by clients outside of therapy sessions. Eliott also utilizes Brainspotting, which aids clients in processing difficult emotions and experiences.

Eliott earned a Masters in Social Work at UC Berkeley, CA and is a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). Apart from being a therapist, Eliott loves to spend time outdoors longboarding, crafting playlists of music, and making challah and other food to share with loved ones.

Marisa’s goal is to help people find peace with their past, happiness in their present, and hope for their future. She encourages and empowers her clients to improve and enhance how they love, work, and play.

A licensed clinical social worker and an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) practitioner with a background in community mental health, Marisa provides her clients with compassionate and empathetic support. She finds EMDR particularly useful in helping clients reprocess and heal trauma.

Working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages, Marisa is personable and enjoys connecting with her clients. She has worked in victim advocacy as well as crisis intervention, and she has extensive knowledge of mental health resources in Orange County.

Marisa partners with her clients, and together, they strive to develop healthier, happier, and more productive lives. Dedicated and conscientious, Marisa hopes to make a meaningful difference with her work.

Kimberly Grayson is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, with a Master’s degree in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton. She also completed her Bachelor’s Degree at CSUF where she studied Child Development and Human Services. Kimberly has always enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and young adults. After working for over 15 years in education, she made a significant transition to helping people from all backgrounds overcome mental and behavioral challenges.

Kimberly uses an integrative style of therapy from a client-centered foundation, where genuineness and warmth are central to healing. Her passion is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, while also integrating art and play therapy. As a therapist, she has experience helping clients with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, relationship and communication issues, and self-worth.

Her goal as a therapist is to work collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their personal goals for growth, healing, and change. Kimberly strives to create a supportive therapeutic environment where her clients feel understood and safe. Ava earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Bachelors in both Psychology and Studio Art from UC Irvine. She enjoys working with children, youth, and young adults; and has experience working with the LGBTQ+ population. Ava has received training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). She is interested in utilizing somatic-based interventions and regularly incorporates art and mindfulness activities in session.

Ava finds it important to take a social justice and strengths-based approach to therapy. She is passionate about this work because she truly believes in our individual and collective healing. She is an Orange County native who very much loves the beach and Disneyland. During her free time she can be found painting and cuddling with her cat.

Marilyn Phan is a member of the administrative staff and acts as the Intake Coordinator for Inner Wisdom Psych. She is a Cal State Long Beach student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Child Development and Family Studies. With a strong background in psychology and extensive involvement in youth development, Marilyn deeply understands the importance of individual needs and is committed to fostering positive outcomes for those she serves. Fluent in both Vietnamese and English, Marilyn aims to bridge cultural and linguistic barriers in the mental health field. As an Intake Coordinator, she is committed to providing exceptional support to clients, fostering positive interactions, and ensuring efficient processes all while maintaining the utmost professionalism and confidentiality.

Madison Salsman is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist practicing under the supervision of Naomi Clark Babcock LCSW and is a Board-Certified Music Therapist with over 5 years experience working with children and families.

Madison has built a strong clinical foundation of holistic, compassionate, and integrative care through her work in the medical setting, supporting those amidst their treatment journeys and those experiencing end of life situations. She practices a person-centered, family-based approach that focuses on providing a safe space where clients and families are able to authentically explore their emotional experiences. Madison also believes in the power of community and ongoing support to build an individualized tool bag of skills, as well as empowering clients to identify and utilize their strengths independently.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Madison studied music therapy in Boston, and has traveled locally and abroad before finally making her home in California. Learning from people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds has helped Madison to understand the importance of recognizing and empowering each individual as the expert of their own lived experience. Drawing from various modalities, Madison strives to support client growth, self-awareness, emotional expression, and self-discovery.

When she’s not working with clients, Madison enjoys snuggling up with her cockapoo, Milo, and two cats Kira and Gracie, taking trips to the ocean, ballroom dancing, and writing music. She can often be found singing Disney tunes in the car on her way to the office!
