What are the benefits of therapy?

Therapy can help you to feel peaceful, grounded, and confident as you work through the underlying issues that may be contributing to your anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or other mental health struggles. Therapy allows you to explore who you are without judgment and the benefits of therapy are specific to each client’s unique situation and goals. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to create more meaningful relationships, address mental health issues, gain greater clarity and direction, change unhealthy patterns, heal trauma, and increase overall happiness by developing new ways of relating to yourself and your life.

How do I pay for therapy?

Currently the practice (Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy Associates) is contracted with Optum/Oscar/United Healthcare, some Aetna plans, Cigna/Cigna EAP, and MHN and will soon have an out-of-network agreement with Tricare. Not all therapists are contracted with all plans please ask our office staff or call and verify with your particular plan. We can also provide super bills for out-of-network plan submission. Sliding-scale is available on a limited basis and must provide proof of income (such as last two pay stubs, or bank statements. The practice requires you leave a credit card to be charged after each session.

What are the benefits of deciding to see your therapist entirely online?

Often times, one of the biggest barriers to therapy is actually getting to the office for an appointment. Life can be so busy and full of commitments and sometimes that hour each week can be hard to fit in between work, home, and personal life. Online therapy saves the time it takes getting to an appointment and can even ease the worry about child care. Therapy should never be an added stress, it should be a stress-relief. Sometimes, it can also be difficult for some clients to open up in an unfamiliar office setting and online therapy can be a great alternative as you are sitting in a place of your choosing that feels comfortable and safe to you. Online therapy is a powerful tool and has been shown to be just as if not more effective than traditional face-to face sessions and clients love the convenience that it brings.

How long are sessions and how often do I need to meet?

How often to we meet for Each therapy session is 50 minutes in length and clients typically begin the therapy process by meeting with me once per week. Some clients move to every other week once they begin to make progress toward their goals. Research shows that regular and consistent therapy is the most effective way to facilitate change.
